Basketball Recap: Montgomery Central Takes a Loss

Montgomery Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 34th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Asheboro Blue Comets, falling 87-34. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-36 back in January.

Montgomery Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kameron Robinson, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last eight games he's played. Brady Fowler was another key player, putting up five points and six steals.

Asheboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Woodle led the charge by going 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. What's more, Woodle also posted a 63% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Osiris Rodriguez, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Montgomery Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Asheboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Montgomery Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 77-59 loss against Scotland on the 13th. As for Asheboro, they have also already played their next contest, a 62-53 win against North Davidson on the 13th.
