The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will square off against the Northfield Nighthawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Riverdale Ridge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Riverdale Ridge proved they can win big last Monday (they won by nine) and last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brighton, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted since March 11th.
Tyler Swan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Riverdale Ridge's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Carabajal, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northfield started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Eaglecrest. They fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday.
Northfield also got a good showing from Jackson Taylor, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Cooper Haslar stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ryder Wicks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Riverdale Ridge pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
Riverdale Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Northfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, winning 4-0. Will the Ravens repeat their success, or do the Nighthawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
