Baseball Recap: Booker Drops Season-High Score on Shamrock

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Booker had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 25-4 margin over the Shamrock Irish. The Kiowas' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Chase Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Nelson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marco Flores was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julian Rosales, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

Booker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Booker is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Shamrock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
