Baseball Recap: Palisade Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Palisade extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 16-2. They put the hurt on the Montrose Red Hawks with a sharp 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dylon Larson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Tobyn Trottier also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Palisade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

As for Montrose, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-3 Grand Junction and 13-3 Grand Junction (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85.2% over those games).

On Montrose's side, Cohan Sauter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Chazz Miller made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Palisade will host Grand Junction at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.3, the Tigers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Montrose, they will head out to square off against Glenwood Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
