It's playoff time, and Broomfield had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Fossil Ridge SaberCats on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on 15 straight.

Broomfield got a great performance from Maverick Scarpella as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Scarpella has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brendan Fritch was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caden Williamson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Broomfield's victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Fossil Ridge, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Broomfield will square off against Grandview at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fossil Ridge, they will challenge Castle View at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
