Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Gibson County's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ripley, Gibson County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They never let the Peabody Golden Tide get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hannah Prestininzi and Andrea Criswell were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Prestininzi didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Criswell struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. At bat, Prestininzi went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Criswell went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haley Mingle, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Joliegh McVay, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Gibson County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. As for Peabody, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

As of now, neither Gibson County nor the Golden Tide have any future games scheduled.
