Football Recap: Southwood Has No Trouble Against North Caddo

Southwood had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt North Caddo on Friday. The Cowboys put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 50-28 win. The Cowboys pushed the score to 44-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.

Southwood found their leader in sophomore Jamilton Coleman, who threw for 281 yards and four TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. A healthy portion of Coleman's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to James Harris, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Montae Miles, who threw for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes, and also rushed for 79 yards. Kobe Hill was another key rusher, rushing for 123 yards.

Southwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for North Caddo, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Southwood and North Caddo will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cowboys will challenge rival Loyola College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, North Caddo is set to face off against their familiar foe Magnolia School of Excellence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
