The Penn Cambria Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Avonworth Antelopes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Penn Cambria 11.6, Avonworth 9.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
Penn Cambria is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 12-7 W over Sharon. The 12-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Penn Cambria didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Lilly and Colin Gongloff. Gongloff has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Penn Cambria received some extra help from Latterner, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Avonworth faced Imani Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Antelopes blew past the Saints 30-6. Considering the Antelopes have won 12 contests by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Penn Cambria better keep an eye on Luca Neal. He was instrumental in Avonworth's win, rushing for 103 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while also picking up 63 receiving yards.
Avonworth's run defense was locked in: Imani Christian Academy could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The Antelopes' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.3.
The victory keeps Avonworth at an undefeated 13-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average this season. As for Penn Cambria, their record is now 12-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Penn Cambria has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Avonworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 230 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Penn Cambria came up short against Avonworth in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 16-6. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
