Basketball Recap: Cambridge Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Cambridge and Loomis, and Loomis kept the tradition alive. The Trojans fell 70-61 to the Wolves on Monday. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 60-42 to the Wolves when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Cambridge still got an impressive performance from Brady Ahlemeyer, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The Trojans are 2-1 when Ahlemeyer posts three or more steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hodge Raburn, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Loomis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hoyt Thorell led the charge by putting up ten points and five steals. Those five steals gave Thorell a new career-high. Cade Hays also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Cambridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Loomis, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Cambridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-44 win against Centura on the 30th. As for Loomis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-33 victory against Wallace on the 30th.
