Softball Recap: Powdersville Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wren, Powdersville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Carolina Academy Trojans an 18-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.

Lilee Lugo and Kylie Powell made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lugo tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Powell tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lugo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lugo went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Powell went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Powdersville let Kaylie Evatt and Bree Woods run wild. Evatt went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Woods went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ellison Wood was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Powdersville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .885. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Powdersville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carolina Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
