Softball Recap: White River Beats Jefferson for Their Third Straight Win

White River had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Jefferson Raiders with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Abby Akins, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Kennedy Selander was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

White River hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

White River now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Coming up, White River will be playing in front of their home fans against Kentlake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson, they will square off against Beamer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.13 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
