Football Recap: Red River Skates Past Lakeside with Ease

Red River won the last time they faced Lakeside and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over the Warriors. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Red River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malique Smith, who threw for 241 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 60 yards. Those six passing touchdowns gave Smith a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Cedric Moody, who rushed for 171 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Red River's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lakeside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red River will square off against Many at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.86 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lakeside, they will take on Ringgold at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
