Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Academy Bulldogs vs. Cox Falcons

The Norfolk Academy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Cox Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cox took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Norfolk Academy, who comes in off a win.

Norfolk Academy is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 55-7 win over Peninsula Catholic. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Knights are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Maria Delyannis, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Eliza Everett was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Cox had to suffer through a 57-27 loss at the hands of Ocean Lakes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered against the Dolphins since January 14, 2020.

The victory made it two in a row for Norfolk Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.5 points over those games. As for Cox, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Norfolk Academy took their win against Cox in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 42-21. Does Norfolk Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cox turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
