Basketball Game Preview: Granada Bobcats vs. Wiley Panthers

Granada is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 70-28 loss at the hands of McClave. The Bobcats have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wiley). They breezed by Deer Trail to the tune of 69-19 on Saturday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 41 point advantage.

Wiley's win came from a few key players Granada will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Grant Mauch, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Milton Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Wiley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Wiley and bumps their season record up to 6-6. As for Granada, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Granada strolled past Wiley when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 41-27. Does Granada have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wiley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
