Volleyball Recap: Smidt Tech Falls Short of Animo Bunche in the Playoffs

Smidt Tech and Animo Bunche squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Smidt Tech had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Stallions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in April.

Nathan Lopez paced Smidt Tech's offense, picking up 16 kills. Lopez got some help from Gio Lopez and his 30 assists. Gio was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with eight each.

Smidt Tech now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Animo Bunche, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Smidt Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Animo Bunche, they have already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Gardena on the 8th.
