Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Flashes vs. Bishop Kenny Crusaders

The St. Joseph Academy Flashes are taking a road trip to face off against the Bishop Kenny Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

St. Joseph Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kenny can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They skirted past Richmond Hill 2-1.

Caleb Pasko spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.

At the plate, Bishop Kenny saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase McLauchlin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Brock Mclamb also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

St. Joseph Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4-1. As for Bishop Kenny, their victory bumped their record up to 4-16.

St. Joseph Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Flashes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bishop Kenny, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Joseph Academy continue to outrun the ball?

St. Joseph Academy suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Bishop Kenny when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can the Flashes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
