Preview: Rio Hondo Bobcats vs. Lyford Bulldogs
Rio Hondo is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Lyford is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rio Hondo Bobcats will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Lyford Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Rio Hondo blew past IDEA Weslaco Pike, posting a 75-25 victory at home.
Rio Hondo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Molina led the charge by scoring 24 points. The match was Molina's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Atkinson, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Lyford humbled IDEA Sports Park with a 50-19 victory. The victory was just what Lyford needed coming off of a 84-31 loss in their prior game.
Rio Hondo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Lyford, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Everything went Rio Hondo's way against Lyford in their previous matchup back in January as Rio Hondo made off with a 66-43 victory. Does Rio Hondo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lyford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
