Baseball Recap: Muskogee Roughers vs. Claremore Zebras
After flying high against Northwest Classen on Monday, Muskogee came back down to earth. The Roughers fell just short of the Claremore Zebras by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. If the Roughers were looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to the Zebras when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Owen Gilliam was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Muskogee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Paul, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Muskogee moved to 14-21 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Claremore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season.
Muskogee will look to defend their home field on Friday against McAlester at 5:00 p.m. The last three games the Buffaloes have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Claremore, they will venture away from home to challenge Charles Page at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
