Softball Recap: Wickliffe Comes Up Short

Wickliffe and Champion squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Wickliffe had to settle for second. They lost 11-1 to the Golden Flashes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Wickliffe has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Champion, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.

Wickliffe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Champion, they will challenge Cardinal Mooney at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Golden Flashes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
