Baseball Recap: Princeton Comes Up Short

Princeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to the South Spencer Rebels. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Jaron Clutter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Clutter was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Conor Marsh made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Princeton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for South Spencer, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14.

Looking ahead, Princeton will take on Mt. Carmel at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aces have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for South Spencer, they will square off against McLean County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
