Northwood had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-8 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over the University Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted since April 18, 2024.
Natalie Keith was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Baylie Wong, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Northwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
As for University, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
On University's side, Sophia Weinberg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Alexandra McBride was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Northwood is set to face off against their familiar foe Woodbridge at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, University will square off against rival Irvine at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
