Softball Game Preview: Wells Pirates vs. Neches Tigers

The Wells Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Neches Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wells has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wells lost 15-5 to Alto on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Neches came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 20-16 win over the Eagles. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Wells' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1. As for Neches, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Wells couldn't quite get it done against Neches in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 13-9. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
