Basketball Recap: Pearland Piles Up the Points Against Alvin

A well-balanced attack led Pearland over Alvin in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pearland Oilers blew the Alvin Yellowjackets out of the water with a 76-13 final score. The Oilers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Pearland found their leader in sophomore A?Zyua Blair, who went 13 for 24 on her way to 30 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The game was Blair's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anita Nwosu, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Pearland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.2 points per game. As for Alvin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Pearland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-19 win against Manvel on the 10th. As for Alvin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-41 defeat against College Park on the 5th.
