Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Mission Bay's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Mission Bay unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

Erik May paced Mission Bay's offense, picking up seven kills. May got some help from Hanson Cayd and his ten assists. Finally, Kyson Yap and Jack Wainwright kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Robbie Hacker was the offensive standout of the match as he had 17 assists and five digs. That's the most assists he has posted over his last four contests. Noah Ansaldo was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.

Mission Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for San Dieguito Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Mission Bay will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon Hills at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for San Dieguito Academy, they have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Clairemont on the 15th.
