Basketball Recap: Saniya Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crestwood over Woodmont

On Saturday, the Crestwood Knights came up short against the Woodmont Wildcats and fell 44-34.

Crestwood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saniya Williams, who posted 15 points and three steals. Williams' afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. London Vaughn was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Crestwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Crestwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Woodmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Crestwood will challenge Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woodmont, they will host Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mauldin will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Woodmont surely won't give up without a fight.
