Football Recap: Saucon Valley Takes a Loss

Saucon Valley and Tamaqua squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Saucon Valley had to settle for second. They fell 22-15 to the Blue Raiders. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Thomas Cahill threw for 43 yards. Taylor Rohn was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards.

Tamaqua found their leader in sophomore Terrence McDowell Jr, who rushed for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns. McDowell Jr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Malachi Stewart helped out on the ground, rushing for 93 yards.

Saucon Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Tamaqua, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.

Saucon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tamaqua, they will square off against Notre Dame-Green Pond at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 8.4 points per game this season, so the Blue Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
