Baseball Recap: Jay County Takes a Loss

Jay County lost to Hagerstown on Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Patriots lost 9-3 to the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered against the Tigers since May 6, 2023.

Carter Fugiett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Foster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Jay County and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Hagerstown, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4.

Jay County and Hagerstown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Patriots will square off against Muncie Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (104 vs. 342). Meanwhile, Hagerstown (ranked 71st) will meet Centerville (ranked 291st) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
