Basketball Recap: Roland Morton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rossview over Kirkwood

Rossview lost against Kirkwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rossview Hawks fell 62-50 to the Kirkwood Cobras. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Cobras are ranked 56th).

Rossview lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Roland Morton, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points. Logan Piekielko was another key player, putting up five points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rossview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Rossview dropped their record down to 6-17 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Kirkwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rossview will welcome Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kirkwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kirkwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
