Softball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Bullis Bulldogs

The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers will venture away from home to take on the Bullis Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Georgetown Day is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Madeira by a score of 10-6.

Natalie Ogden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Georgetown Day let Lia Oremland and Avery Snyder run wild. Oremland got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Snyder went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Erica Piper also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Bullis made easy work of Georgetown Day last Tuesday and carried off a 16-10 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Georgetown Day's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Bullis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-1.

Georgetown Day might still be hurting after the 16-10 defeat they got from Bullis in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Mighty Hoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
