Softball Recap: Gowanda Find Success

Gowanda lost to Forestville Central last Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 7-3.

Addison Kota made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, Holland Browning was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sophia Bobseine was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Gowanda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gowanda is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Forestville Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gowanda will challenge rival Randolph at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Forestville Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Brocton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
