Volleyball Recap: Nantucket Comes Up Short

Nantucket was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mashpee Falcons. The Whalers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Nantucket took Mashpee into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-27, 15-11.

Quinn Canty paced Nantucket's offense, picking up 12 kills. Canty got some help from Emanuelly Coelho and her 18 assists. Mariana Silva (C) controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Nantucket's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Mashpee, they moved to 5-12 with that win, which also ended their six-match losing streak.

Nantucket wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Rising Tide on the 17th. As for Mashpee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Abington on the 20th.
