Basketball Recap: Shawnee Skates Past Anthony Wayne with Ease

Shawnee extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 5-1. They claimed a resounding 69-37 win over the Anthony Wayne Generals. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season.

Trevick Bertke produced another solid performance going 8-for-10 en route to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. The matchup was his 20th in a row with at least 15 points. Ashton Wright was another key player, shooting 71% from the field to rack up 12 points and six boards.

Shawnee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

As for Anthony Wayne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Anthony Wayne lost, don't look at Jackson Urenovitch. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. Urenovitch also posted an assist, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Gast, who earned seven points and four blocks.
