Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Madison Glasco and Nafi Balde

Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 76-57 bruising from the St. Francis Prep Terriers. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Terriers are ranked 59th).

Holy Cross' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nafi Balde, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Madison Glasco, who posted 23 points and five boards. Those 23 points gave Glasco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mona Okorie, who put up three points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Holy Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. This was only their 14th loss (out of 19 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for St. Francis Prep, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coming up, Holy Cross will square off against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
