Soccer Game Preview: Encinal vs. Hayward

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Hayward recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Encinal Jets will square off against the Hayward Farmers at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Encinal is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They lost 8-1 to Tennyson. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1123rd, while the Lancers are ranked 396th).

Meanwhile, Hayward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Leandro. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Farmers couldn't quite close it out.

Hayward's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for Encinal, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Encinal might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Hayward in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Encinal avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
