Baseball Recap: Hillside Hornets vs. Eno River Bobcats

Hillside had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Eno River Bobcats by a score of 12-7 on Tuesday. With that win, Hillside brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Julian Hall tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Evan Marciniak relieved him and did a solid job, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (he also only allowed one walk).

On the hitting side, Myles McMillan was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Salcedo, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run.

On Eno River's side, Cooper Philipps was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Philipps was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Kai Norcross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Eno River didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillside only tossed seven.

Hillside's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. As for Eno River, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Hillside will head out on the road to challenge Southeast Raleigh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillside is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Eno River, they will head out on the road to take on Hillside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
