Softball Recap: West Nassau Takes a Loss

West Nassau fell victim to Matanzas and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on April 5th.

West Nassau saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Harter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

West Nassau has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Matanzas, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

West Nassau and Matanzas are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Warriors will challenge Yulee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so West Nassau's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Matanzas, they will be playing at home against Englewood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.92 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
