Softball Recap: HCYA vs. Kinkaid Falcons
HCYA came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Kinkaid Falcons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as HCYA also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.
Addilynn Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Yanaia Scott was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Dwyer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
On Kinkaid's side, Leah Bream made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run. Audrey Jones was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
