Volleyball Recap: Sky View Falls Despite Big Games from Brynn Spackman and Abby Thatcher

If Sky View was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Grantsville on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats fell just short of the Spanish Fork Dons by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dons from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Sky View took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-14, 14-25, 25-19, 15-10.

Sky View's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Abby Thatcher, who had 24 digs and two assists, and Brynn Spackman, who had 17 digs. Spackman has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Taryn Benson was the offensive standout of the game as she had 16 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Baylee Smith also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Sky View has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Spanish Fork, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Sky View will challenge Mountain Crest at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Spanish Fork, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against North Sanpete on the 26th.
