Volleyball Recap: Belen Jesuit Gets the Win

Belen Jesuit posted their closest win since March 21st on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coral Gables Cavaliers, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Belen Jesuit got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-12.

William Essig paced Belen Jesuit's offense, picking up 14 kills. Essig got some help from Giordan Del Riesgo and his 18 assists. Essig also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with William Pedraja, racking up two apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Coral Gables lost, don't look at William Hardie. Despite the final result, he had 20 digs and three aces. Hardie is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Belen Jesuit and bumps their season record up to 11-12. As for Coral Gables, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Belen Jesuit will take on Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coral Gables has already played their next matchup (against Cypress Bay), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
