Baseball Game Preview: Hilbert Wolves vs. Brillion Lions

The Hilbert Wolves will head out to face off against the Brillion Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hilbert's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Monday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hilbert lost 10-1 to Gibraltar/Washington Island on Thursday.

Hilbert saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Anderson has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brillion). They blew past Two Rivers 15-3 on Thursday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Purple Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Chase Braun made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Hayden Cousin was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Blake Kettner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Brillion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Brillion's record is now 2-3. As for Hilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
