Basketball Recap: Liberty Christian Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Liberty Christian won the last time they faced Turner, and Easton Hupp did his part to make sure it happened again. The Liberty Christian Warriors blew past the Turner Lions 84-54 on Saturday thanks in part to Hupp, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points. The game was his 15th in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Mitchell, who posted eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Turner lost, don't look at Leo Portillo. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Austin Castro was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.

Liberty Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.8 points per game. As for Turner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Christian will take on Lake Country Christian in a holiday battle at at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Liberty Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches. As for Turner, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Creekview at 7:15 p.m.
