Softball Game Preview: New Richmond Lions vs. Butler Aviators

The New Richmond Lions will face off against the Butler Aviators at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. New Richmond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

New Richmond is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Goshen by a score of 7-2. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Isabelle Rae Hartigan was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Steelman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

New Richmond hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Butler got the win against Tecumseh on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-4. The Aviators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Butler and bumps their season record up to 9-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for New Richmond, their record now sits at 9-7.
