Softball Recap: Bucktail Has No Trouble Against Lewisburg

Bucktail had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Lewisburg on Monday. The Bucks were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Green Dragons. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Eva Sockman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bucktail got a massive performance out of Lola English, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave English a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Wagner, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Bucktail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewisburg only posted an OBP of .278.

Bucktail is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lewisburg, they are on a 34-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Coincidentally, Bucktail and Lewisburg will both be playing Millville the next time they take the field. The Bucks will head out to face the Quakers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Green Dragons will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
