Chelsea Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Oakcrest Chargers by a score of 61-59. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 46-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Oakcrest to victory were Mary Mehan and Kate Newsome. Mehan dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds, while Newsome went 8 of 17 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight assists and eight blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mehan has scored at least a third of Oakcrest's points.

Chelsea Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3. As for Oakcrest, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Chelsea Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fredericksburg Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Oakcrest has already played their next game, a 44-40 loss against Seton on the 19th.
