Preview: Deposit-Hancock vs. Delaware Academy Bulldogs
Deposit-Hancock and Delaware Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Deposit-Hancock will head out on the road to face off against the Delaware Academy Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Deposit-Hancock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Delaware Academy is ranked 114th).
Deposit-Hancock had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Harpursville/Afton on the road to the tune of 55-14. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Deposit-Hancock's six-point performance the match before.
Meanwhile, Delaware Academy entered their tilt with Newark Valley with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Delaware Academy came out on top against Newark Valley by a score of 21-14 on Saturday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Delaware Academy was the better team in the second half.
Delaware Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Bracchy, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Bracchy really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Dungan, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Deposit-Hancock's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Delaware Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Deposit-Hancock was dealt a bruising 54-0 loss at the hands of Delaware Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Deposit-Hancock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
