Football Game Preview: Smithtown West vs. Half Hollow Hills West Colts

Smithtown West are taking a road trip to face off against the Half Hollow Hills West Colts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Smithtown West put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over Rocky Point. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.

Meanwhile, Half Hollow Hills West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Islip. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Colts couldn't quite close it out.

Smithtown West will have to contain Luke Taff as he made an impact in Half Hollow Hills West's last game. He picked up 84 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one TD on the ground.

Smithtown West's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Half Hollow Hills West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Smithtown West couldn't quite finish off Half Hollow Hills West when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 70-68. Thankfully for Smithtown West, Joseph Filardi (who threw for 404 yards and seven TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 183 yards and three scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
