Football Recap: Vincennes Lincoln Keeps Evansville Reitz's Under Pressure

After flying high against Evansville Bosse last Friday, Vincennes Lincoln came back down to earth. The Alices fell 35-28 to the Evansville Reitz Panthers on Friday. The Alices have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Vincennes Lincoln lost, don't look at Cooper Collins. Despite the final result, he threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 140 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Collins' aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Gavin Kelso.

Even if they lost, Vincennes Lincoln's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Mac McCormick was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evansville Reitz to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamontre Johnson, who threw for 134 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine passes, and also rushed for 49 yards. Elijah Darrett was another key player, gaining 144 total yards and a touchdown.

Vincennes Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Evansville Reitz, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Vincennes Lincoln didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-6 defeat against Evansville Mater Dei on the 5th. As for Evansville Reitz, they have also already played their next game, a 20-14 loss against Jasper on the 5th.
