Recap: Menard Yellowjackets vs. Santa Anna Mountaineers

The Menard Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Santa Anna. Menard was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Santa Anna apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Jacob Jimenez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Santa Anna, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Jimenez has scored at least a third of Santa Anna's points. Another player making a difference was Devan Ray, who scored eight points along with seven steals and six assists.

Menard's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Santa Anna, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Menard will head out on the road to face off against Paint Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paint Rock comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Santa Anna, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Eden at 7:30 p.m.
