Baseball Game Preview: Dakota Ridge Eagles vs. Green Mountain Rams

The Dakota Ridge Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Green Mountain Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Dakota Ridge came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-2 to Chatfield. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost four in a row.

Jo Jo Calderon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dakota Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Larmore, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That hit was Larmore's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Green Mountain suffered their closest loss since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lutheran by a score of 3-1.

Simon Lunsford was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

Green Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Dakota Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
