Soccer Recap: Aiken Comes Up Short

Aiken lost against Midland Valley last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Mustangs who were credited with the win. The Midland Valley Mustangs got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets' one. Aiken fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Midland Valley since on Saturday.

Erick Sambrano and Joaquin Beltran scored both of Aiken's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Aiken dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Midland Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Coming up, Aiken will be playing at home against Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Midland Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against White Knoll at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Midland Valley are facing White Knoll at the right time seeing as White Knoll are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
